
Agencies that are created to serve refugees and other immigrants through resettlement, case management, employment assistance, mental health services, youth or school services, and more. Some of these agencies offer legal services to immigrants also.

The NC State Refugee Office consists of three service areas: Refugee Public Assistance, Refugee Service Programs, and Refugee Support Activities. They offer grants to organizations to directly serve elegible immigrant clients.

City and county established centers across the state have community centers where people can meet for social, educational, or recreational activities. For example, they may have sports leagues like soccer for all ages, swimming activities, arts and craft classes, English language classes, and more.

Community Health Centers are places where you can go to see a doctor for an annual physical or other special health needs with out having health insurance. You can find a location near you here:

There are supportive religious groups that offer friendship, resources, and a sense of belonging in NC. Some faith groups have missions to help immigrants in their area by offering English Language Classes, food assistance, mental health services and more.

Many legal offices offer legal services to refugees to assist with green card and citizenship applications for free or a low cost.

Public schools serve all children regardless of immigration status. Schools generally do not require or collect immigration status information for enrollment & information is protected by federal privacy laws. School social workers may be able to connect your family with resources such as food, clothing, mental health services, housing assistance, and other community supports.
