Any immigrant can access emergency medical care, including hospital services and Medicaid reimbursement for those services, as federal law requires that no one be turned away from the emergency room. In North Caorlina the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program provides nutrition assistance to eligible individuals, regardless of their immigration status.
There are many nonprofit organizatons in North Carolina that offer free or affordable legal services to immigrants to adjust their status. Check out our Resource Center for these.
Some community organizations work specially with immigrants to help with English Language Classes, health services, youth services, and more. Check out our Resource Center for these.
Some faith groups have missions to help immigrants in their area by offering English Language Classes, food assistance, mental health services and more.
Immigrants of any status can access some county resources like food and clothing assistance, crisis services, mental health, transportation assistance, health services, diapers, and more.
Public schools do not disclose immigration status of children or parents. If your child is enrolled in public school their School Social Worker can help you access food, clothing, mental health services, and more.
Community Health Centers are places where you can go to see a doctor for an annual physical or other special health needs with out having health insurance. You can find a location near you here https://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/
